  48. Sir , I am just trying to understand the trading with "auto channels Trade signal" ... We shall buy / short (depending on signal) 2 lots of Nifty . We shall book profit in 1 lot when it touches light blue line and 2nd lot to be booked , when it touches dark blue line . And we should come out of trade , when it does a re-testing of our entry levels . Sir Please explain when to hedge and how do we hedge (by buying At the money PUT / CALLS options of 2 lots .

  49. @google-c284fe742f709fa1d938ca707731778a:disqus I'm currently working on a fool proof system of Hedged trading with Auto Channels. I've already back-tested the same on past data but currently beta-testing it myself in live trading. I will give a detailed write-up of the same sometime soon (maybe this weekend).
To give a brief idea of the system:
We always enter 1 lot of futures at a time and buy 1 lot of ITM/ATM hedge.
if the trade moves in our favour and we get another entry signal and the golden line moves past our previous entry level, we add another lot with hedge. We will book profits only at the target level (Dark Blue Line). We will keep adding lots and booking profits till our trend remains favourable.
If ever the price breaches the golden line, we will wait to exit all our holdings at the entry level.
We will not follow any SL for the trade. However, we will reverse our trade only if we get an entry signal in the reverse direction (this avoids many whipsaws).

  50. Ok Sir , for eg. if trend is UP and we buy 1 lot @ first signal (eg. 5719) , 2nd lot @ 2nd signal (eg. 5735) , 3rd lot @ 3rd signal (eg. 5755) and if target of 1st signal is let's say 5754 . So we book profit in 1 lot @ 5754. Assuming Nifty moves little higher around 5770 and start coming down and breaches golden line around 5745 . So we have to wait for 5755 (the entry level of 3rd signal) and need to exit all the lots at 5755. Please rectify if I am wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes, that's precisely the way to trade on auto channels.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ok Sir Thanks . Only 1 last doubt . If after buying 1 lot , nifty goes against our favour and goes below golden line. Then we need to cover hedge position (ITM/ATM option) near golden line and wait for our entry point to exit futures lot near 1st signal or we need to exit both future and hedge option together near our 1st entry signal.

    ReplyDelete
  53. We will need to exit futures and hedge simultaneously whatever be the case.
See the power of hedging and not using SL in last weeks' trading sessions
When the first buy signal is generated and we enter trade, we do not get a chance to exit at cost and we are stopped out using SL. But as we are hedged, we would only reverse trade when a reverse signal is generated. As such we are saved a whipsaw.
See the next Sell signal again, the trade moves ahead and gains profit but we are suddenly stopped out, but with hedged trading, we hold it as no buy signal is generated. The next day is a gap-down and we are in profits :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ok Sir , Thanks a lot . for hedge , which 1 to prefer ITM or ATM . As ITM moves exactly with futures , so can we go for ATM .

    ReplyDelete
  55. We will need to calculate the cost of hedging before we decide whether to use ATM or ITM option. I will explain this in detail in my write-up. As of now, as expiry is close, use only ITM options to hedge.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ok sir , got it . Thanks .

  57. Thanks for the explanations sirji...was hit twice on wrong trade :(

  58. @disqus_AN92IvpwhZ:disqus Most Welcome. Today was a classic example. See my trades for today, bought NF @ 5715 and 5700CE @ 39, exit at 5692 and 57. Short NF @ 5692 and 5700PE @ 42 and exit @ 5686 and 42.5. Capital protected with hedged trading.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cool. But sir if we always hedge our position don t we keep loosing the other way if trade goes in our favour?

    ReplyDelete
  60. @disqus_AN92IvpwhZ:disqus If trade goes in our favour, our loss will always be lesser than our gains. I'll explain this in cost of hedging. For now, if you look at my trades, NF at 5715 and hedge at 40 and our target is 5760. Had NF reached 5760, and even if our hedge had lost 50%, we would have gained. Gain in NF 5760-5715=45, Loss in hedge 40-20=20. Nett gain 25

  61. @vikas I think that scrip had a name change. Can you please let me know the new name?

    ReplyDelete
  62. @EKY I changed the hedge option to exit near entry level. This has many benefits. After proper back-testing, I found out that over 80% of the times, the entry level is retested before a trend reversal. As such we could exit trade at cost or at decent profits over 80% of times even if the trend reverses. If the trend continues, we could re-enter higher at the next trade signal. Hedging could be done during entry to avoid any major losses.
