    6. Ok SR, From my point of view, You can use PHP.. It is cheap and the best way to develop a site. It has no license fees. And very easy to handle. And very much lighter. Facebook is also developed in PHP..

    1. Hi Yogi, Good Morning, With an event coming up, Lighten up your positions. Whatever be the budget outcome, Nifty may likely not break below 5702 easily. If you see history, markets have always shown a pre-budget or post-budget rally. Seeing this carnage in the Feb Series, we can expect a post budget rally.

      Delete
    2. Yes i agree with you, but S&P break below 1500 and also some crack in global mkts, Already so many reforms are already priced in, My view even if FM give good budget, 5900 is diff to break.

    3. Hi Yogi, Nifty may likely trade within the range of 5702-5885 for some time.

    1. Hi Sundaresh, There are few long term investors who invest in index. Instead of buying futures and paying extra premium to roll it over month after month, they prefer to trade in deep ITM options as they have many benefits.

      1. They have no premium.
      2. The value is full intrinsic value and can be redeemed anytime or at expiry.
      3. Options require lesser margins.
      4. Options have lesser risk
      5. No extra premium need to be paid to rollover from one series to the next.

      Delete
    2. Nice explanation Sunil. Thanks.

      Sundaresh,

Liquidity for DEEP ITM will be less (you can check the option volume), because of that Spread between ASK and BID will also be wide.

      Delete
    3. Hi Mahy, Most Welcome. Yes, Liquidity of these options are very low. But is good for long term investors who do not liquidate their holding on a day to day basis and the difference between bid / ask does not matter to them.

      Delete
    4. Yes That's right Sunil. :)

Here most of the autochannels followers are not long term investors, Just I want to inform them that they are less liquid options, worth mentioning.

  35. Sir / Mahy,

    Curious to understand:

If i manage to sell a option at higher level and leave it till expiry - am i not benifited.

Eg.: i am selling at 1500 at the begining of the contract and it expires at 200 rupees - am i not benifited.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, Of course your in profits.
Usually Selling is done with OTM Options, you expect them to expire worthless.

Example : If we shorted 6100CE FEB-2013 on 1st FEB @ 53.60, and now it is trading at 0.5/-, It means you made a profit of 53.1 on it. (commissions are not included for simplicity sake.)

      Hope this helps.

      Delete
    2. Hi Sundar, Mahy pointed out right. We do gain by shorting OTM options. But risk is high as an unfavourable position may lead to unlimited losses. As such, margins requirements are also higher. Strong hands always go with shorting options.

      Delete
  36. sirji
one doubt is if we are clear of trend then why cant we go with otm options to make profit in n number of times with least risk.
and in case of big swings like 5% +- in index those itm options depreciates 500% and even 1000%
    which is best strategy?
    many thanks

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi sbrj, Yes, If one can identify clear trend in advance, OTM options are the best way to multiply capital.

  38. Sir / Mahy,

    Brain storming session:

    As SBRJ said,
Shall we workout ( sorry - cant you suggest)some risky bet like taking some 52 week low bets and buying a long option and hold it till it reaches the high or leave it worthless till expiry.

Eg.: Relinfra (approx) is in 455 levels and it would surely reach 540 levels if the market improves. If not we loose a bit.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sundar, OTM option trading is a great way to multiply capital with least risk. But you must remember few things for OTM option trading.

      1. You need to hold options for a long time.
      2. Longer the time higher the decay.
      3. You must know when to exit.
      4. You must know how to scale out profits.
      5. You must when to book profits.
      6. Stocks may give you a second chance to book profits, but options may not
      7. Time is your best friend as well as your biggest enemy.
      8. You need to exit trade before time turns your biggest enemy.
      9. Picking such stocks is not easy.
      10. If regularly using this strategy, follow a mix of longs and shorts.

Refer to the previous link replied to sbrj

    Hi Sundaresh Lakshmikanthan,
your very good questions not only helps you but also helps me to know about certain important rules in options trading.
    thanks

  40. Sir,

I lost huge money in option - due to non-adherance of the above said laws.

This month i lost a bit - but gained huge experience. I am sure that i will not loose any henceforth.
