    How to Calculate Pivot Points:-
    One of the most common methods is using pivot points, and here is how to calculate and interpret these technical tools.
    There are several different methods for calculating pivot points, the most common of which is the five-point system. This system uses the previous day's high, low and close, along with two support levels and two resistance levels (totaling five price points) to derive a pivot point. The equations are as follows:
    R2 = P + (H - L) = P + (R1 - S1)
    R1 = (P x 2) - L
    P = (H + L + C) / 3
    S1 = (P x 2) - H
    S2 = P - (H - L) = P - (R1 - S1)
    Here, "S" represents the support levels, "R" the resistance levels and "P" the pivot point. High, low and close are represented by the "H", "L" and "C" respectively. Limited markets (such as the NYSE,BSE,NSE,S&P 500) simply use the high, low and close from the day's standard trading hours.

    There are two more posts waiting for approval as they contain links to pivot calculator.. Hope this info may help u :)

  70. Hi HAM,

    I am holding some puts september series.
    5200 possible in coming days.
    Kindly advise.

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Vibhor
    Thanks :)
    As a bear, I dont want to miss the bear market, hence participating actively till nifty breaks 5000 psychological mark on charts.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Do you see that Nifty will break 5000 on charts???

    ReplyDelete
  73. @ SS
    See firstly, the second gap is not yet filled completely which gives a hint that this fall is not yet over.
    Secondly, if u compare the charts of banknifty and nifty, according to bank nifty, nifty must be trading near 5050/4950 but nifty is near 5440, so based on this u may get clear idea of my levels..
    My targets may take some time, for example, last Friday I posted message that nifty has to fill the two gaps, so given two targets of 5350/5200 and also said that if it does not happen in this month the next month, fortunately my first target achieved in less than a week. And now am expecting 5200/4900, frankly i have no idea abt how long will nifty take to reach these levels hence gone with the strangle strategy.
    For the puts, keep tight SL of 5510
    USD INR if breaches 66 mark, it may head to 70+, if comes to 70, then u will see nifty trading near 4700/4800 and even 4500 is possible.. Lets see

    can enter 5200 pe + 5600 ce sep" series on monday

    ReplyDelete
  75. @ Vibhor
    Yes, but no ideaif it happens before or after a strong short covering bounce.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @
    No, dont enter a strangle till AUG month expiry as the premiums are falling like hell. Today I lost 15% of my profit which I gained this but am averaging the strangle based on my risk appetite.
    For u guys, I would advice to be safe than sorry and stay out when in doubt.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. ok..Thanks for sharing your views..

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nifty likely to close above 5357. One may enter 5700CE Sep on dips next week in low qty for targets of 5640.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @ Guys,
    Follow auto channels automated signals with strict SL cuz if market trend reverses, i noticed numerous times that the sell signal keeps on moving in descending order and vice-versa in up market..

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dont hold AUG series options due to time decay prob and nearing expiry, buy fresh positions on Monday in much cheaper prices.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I bought sept 5700 ce and 5100 pe in 1:1 ratio.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I am currently travelling, as such having net issues. Will be back home by Sunday. :)

  83. SR,
    Before leaving, once again wish u a very happy Birthday :)

    May God keep you healthy, wealthy, cheerful and peaceful through out the year. May you will see you hundred birthdays with the same health, happiness and peace. Have a nice day and best birthday ever :)

    Have a pleasant evening and peaceful weekend SR and AC readers :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hey guys,
    Forgot to tell one more thing,
    Look at the AC chart once, like I said yesterday/day before yesterday to consider GREEN line as SL for shorts and BROWN line as SL for longs,
    Today though nifty triggered a caution line, YELLOW twice, it couldn't able to break the BROWN line, hence prefer these lines as SL in order to avoid market traps......

    Bye everyone :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hello HAM,

    Based on india VIX ,
    if it is high (27-28) then i can go for straddle and
    if VIX is low (18-20) then i can go for strangle right ?

    Kindly confirm..

    Thanks in advance

    ReplyDelete
  86. @ rvk

    No, buy strangle or straddle if VIX index gets to low below 24/22 as u can get them in reasonable prices. If VIX index rises later, then options gain extra premium and market remains quite volatile giving huge swings..
    As of now I am holding my strangles with -14% loss from my total profit which I got in single week since last Friday and still am averaging them on my own risk hoping, nifty must either move to 5150 or 5650 in 2 weeks and its unlikely to remain calm at the current levels for more than a week.
    As Vix index is near 25, It has to give swing move on either side but as AUG expiry is nearing, its best to maintain strangle in very low quantity in Sept series... Forget about August as its too risky to trade in last week of series..
    Lets hope for the best :)
    Y'r always welcome....

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ok HAM....thanks a lot !!

    Happy weekend !!

    ReplyDelete
  88. U r always welcome
